Own Your Movement MOVE is the foundational pillar of the MOVE. SURVIVE. THRIVE. System at IMMA. Claim the freedom to move how you want, when you want. Or when you need to. One of the four primary principles of Systema is Freedom of Movement. Here you will learn to develop your movement with novel exercises and programs. Our movement training is designed to build strength, power, endurance and mobility - regardless of whether you train in martial arts/combatives or not. Survive and Thrive are as relevant to everyday life as they are to conflict scenarios. Within the system, there is a three-phased approach: Foundation --> Function --> Flow. This approach will give you attributes and skills that are transferrable to many aspects in your life - as a martial artist, as an athlete or as a hard living, resilient citizen. And quality is always prioritized over quantity. The system and approach build your health, fitness and longevity; while injury, burnout and depletion are avoided. Tools, Systems, Modalities This integrated (hence "Integral") curriculum offers methods and movements from multiple systems and modalities including hardstyle kettlebells, calisthenics/bodyweight exercise, flexibility/mobility and club swinging - as well as unique exercises and drills you won't find anywhere else - synthesized to enhance your physical prowess and overall health and wellness. We'll work together to select the best blend of classes and exercise types per your goals and personal preferences. Another differentiator at IMMA: It's not about the tool, or the system, or the modality. It's always about developing the core attributes and skills. Breathwork is deeply embedded within this curriculum, and you will learn to harness the power of the breath for increased performance, optimal recovery, and management of the body-mind connection in novel ways.

Although these phases are indeed a progression, it is typical for all phases to be trained simultaneously. FOUNDATIONBuild a solid base of strength, power, mobility and endurance. These fundamental characteristics are critical for any martial artist, athlete or hard-living individual. Multiple modalities, which are especially conducive to martial arts and combatives, are incorporated. But no fads here. Only proven, research-backed methods are employed to deliver the minimum effective dose while stimulating continuous growth. Train smarter. FUNCTIONUnlock your skills with highly functional movement patterns. Practice complex, whole-body movements and gain awareness of how your body integrates and operates. Balance this with the ability to selectively activate individual muscle groups under duress or load. This is core to Systema training but also incorporates movements and concepts that are borrowed from systems like the GMB method. Old school strength and physical culture enthusiasts may associate some of these methods with Maxick’s Muscle Control concepts, and there are definite similarities. This functional training is focused on highly effective combat skills. This is one aspect of our training that stands apart from purely athletic skills development. FLOWForge your body-mind connection, temper your psyche and replace your operating system. Enter the flow state at need. The FLOW phase is a completely unique element of training at IMMA. When merged with the foundation and function phases – a formidable warrior is produced.
